OCIA
What is the OCIA?
- OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
- The process established by the Church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).
- These individuals are welcomed as fully initiated Catholics on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil.
Who is OCIA for?
- Persons in need of Baptism above the age of 7 years.
- Persons baptized in another Christian tradition who desire to become Catholic.
- Persons baptized Catholic in need of First Communion and Confirmation.
Steps of Christian Initiation
- Period of Evangelization and Precatechumenate
- Period of the Catechumenate
- Period of Purification and Enlightenment
- Period of the Post-Baptismal Catechesis

- Birth Certificate
The documents must be presented at the time of registration for the process to be completed and for the candidate to be registered for the program. The legal guardian must register the candidate for the program.
