“The Pope’s visit to Mexico in 2016 has been confirmed but there has been no information given that he will come to Juarez.” said El Paso Diocese.

“The Pope was invited by our Bishop Mark Seitz to visit El Paso earlier this year when it was known that he would make his inaugural visit to the U.S. The Pope’s press office said at that time that the Pope would love to enter the U.S. through the southern border but would not be able to come to the border without an extended trip to Mexico City and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Plans to visit Mexico resulted.”

“It is our great hope that he would be that close to us but right now, there is no information that indicates it is indeed true.” El Paso DIocese stated.
